Thanks from the bottom of my heart for helping me through the experience of this year.
As I write, lightening and thunder, hail and rain surround me here in Philadelphia, a strange climate for New Years Eve: more appropriate than fireworks, and a real damper to any celebration. As if to say that La Naturaleza is on the move, to cancel and supplant human schemes.
Wishing you, and all of us in this benighted world, a much better, smarter, safer, kinder and life-fulfilling year ahead. And give us the courage and wisdom to make it happen.
It's harder to say Happy New Years these days, given the immoral hell many of us are living through right now, or have had to bear witness to. But let us mark the passage of time anyways, for traditions sake? For a vain attempt to keep what remains of our failing sanity? As warriors might do, even if certain of their coming doom? As Frodo and Sam continued to do - struggling to get to Mt. Doom and throw that damn ring into the fire. Perhaps it is all that is left.
Thank you for a year of must-see reporting! As for actions speaking louder, Bruce Cockburn made a song about that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=geRyB2li7lo
Here's to many good surprises in the new year!
